Once a colony of 72, The Red Shed Cats are down to 2 senior feral cats who are looked after by a small team of dedicated volunteers. The cats live in a heated shed near Bridgewater, Nova Scotia and are fed twice a day. They get flea and tick medication every month. We keep a close eye on their health and take them to the vet as needed.
You can read more about The Red Shed Cats by clicking on History above or about the cats themselves by clicking on Meet the cats. We also are very happy to receive donations to help with their care.

New for 2025: Our small team of volunteers recognizes there are many other colonies who need help in Lunenburg County and few resources available. We distribute donated food donations to caretakers as we are able and offer advice on how to build winter shelters. Cat overpopulation is a huge issue in our community and try to help with Trap-Neuter-Return advice and referrals to rescues and shelters. We also lend traps. Where possible, we move kittens to bigger rescues who can vet and adopt them out to responsible owners. Sometimes we foster/socialize frightened older feral kittens (up to 5 months of age) so they can also be transferred.
